I. Correct Installation Steps
1. Preparation Before Installation
Check the meter condition: Ensure the meter is free from transportation damage, with intact components such as the housing and impeller. Verify that the meter model and nominal diameter match the pipeline specifications, and check the factory certificate and metrological verification certificate.
Clean the pipeline: Thoroughly flush the pipeline before installation to remove debris like welding slag, sediment, and rust, preventing impurities from entering the meter and damaging the impeller or blocking the flow channel.
Select the installation location:
The meter should be installed on a horizontal or vertical pipeline. Ensure the water flow direction is consistent with the arrow indication on the meter housing.
Keep it away from vibration sources, heat sources, and corrosive environments. If necessary, install shock-absorbing or heat-insulating devices.
Reserve sufficient maintenance space: Straight pipe sections must be installed before and after the meter to ensure stable water flow. Also, reserve at least 1.5 times the length of the meter for easy disassembly and maintenance.
2. Pipeline Connection and Accessory Installation
Install necessary accessories:
Valves: Globe valves or gate valves should be installed before and after the meter to cut off the water supply during maintenance. For large-flow systems, it is recommended to install a filter in front of the meter to further prevent impurities from entering.
Expansion joints: If the pipeline has thermal expansion, contraction, or installation errors, expansion joints can be installed near the meter to avoid pipeline stress being transmitted to the meter housing.
Air release valves: If air may accumulate at the installation location, an air release valve should be installed on the front side of the meter to discharge air and ensure measurement accuracy.
Sealing and connection:
For flange connections, ensure the flange surfaces are flat. Use water-resistant and temperature-resistant gaskets. Tighten the bolts evenly to avoid water leakage or damage to the meter due to uneven force.
For threaded connections, wrap Teflon tape or apply sealant to prevent interface leakage, but be careful not to use excessive amounts to avoid debris entering the pipeline.
3. Post-Installation Commissioning
Air discharge and water testing: Slowly open the valve in front of the meter to allow water to fill the pipeline gradually. At the same time, open the air release valve to discharge air. After the water flows smoothly, close the air release valve and check for leaks at all interfaces.
Check the counter: Observe whether the meter pointer or digit wheel rotates flexibly without jamming. Test under both low and high flow rates to confirm normal metering.
II. Notes
It is strictly prohibited to tap or disassemble the housing or counter when the meter is in operation to avoid damaging precision components.
During maintenance, the front and rear valves must be closed first, and the water in the pipeline must be drained to ensure operational safety.
For hot water meters, ensure the water temperature does not exceed its rated range to prevent high temperatures from damaging seals or impellers.
